Life in an American Nursing Home--Part 1 Having worked in a nursing home as a nurse and during clinicals while in school, I read this article and it so accurately describes from a resident's view point how it is to live and recieve care in a nursing home. The lack of privacy, the lonliness of no visitors or a demented or non-communicative room mate. Etc... I am going to make an effort to visit the nursing home that I used to work in, there are plenty of folks in there that get no visitors or have family living near by.
